In 2025, the Annual General Meeting of members of the Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada will be held on Thursday, September 11 at The National Club in downtown Toronto. A light breakfast will be served at 9AM and the meeting will begin at 9:45AM. Confirmation of the agenda and formal notice of the meeting will be provided closer to the date.
We are delighted to advise that the AGM will include two speakers, one of whom is confirmed:

Ken Fraser, President, Fraser Group

images/Ken_Fraser.jpgKen has worked as an independent consultant since 1984 serving clients in insurance and financial services as well as governments and non-profit organizations. He has designed a wide variety of market research initiatives as well as advising on marketing strategy, pricing, and expense management. Ken will share the findings of the THIA Travel Claims Survey conducted this year.

You will recall that the objectives for our Claims Survey initiative are to:

  • Enhance the stature of THIA as an authoritative source of information on travel insurance in the eyes of regulators and the public;
  • Provide additional value to THIA members;
  • Improve the value proposition of THIA for prospective members;
  • Provide benchmarking data to participating insurers.

Sean McGurran, Counsel, Torys LLP

Sean has expertise with insurance and warranty product regulation, structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including white-label, MGA and other distribution arrangements, as well as advising and advocating for clients on market conduct issues.

Sean will provide a brief outline of THIA's submission to the Insurance Council of Manitoba regarding the Council's recent shift requiring individuals to have a General Insurance license to sell “Comprehensive Travel Insurance”.
