* NEW* Edward Furman, PhD, York University & Risk and Insurance Studies Centre FoundationEdward Furman, PhD, is an award-winning researcher in Actuarial Science and Quantitative Risk Management, an accomplished university educator, academic leader, and non-profit executive. In 2018, he founded the Actuarial Science program at York University, where he is a Full Professor of Mathematics and Program Director. The program has since been designated a Centre of Actuarial Excellence by the Society of Actuaries—the highest recognition available to actuarial programs globally. In 2023, Dr. Furman co-founded the Risk and Insurance Studies Centre (RISC) Foundation, a federally incorporated Canadian non-profit organization. RISC is dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to understand, prepare for, and respond to the complexities of risk in an interconnected world, advancing resilience and promoting sustainable solutions for the benefit of current and future generations. |

Ken Fraser, President, Fraser GroupKen has worked as an independent consultant since 1984 serving clients in insurance and financial services as well as governments and non-profit organizations. He has designed a wide variety of market research initiatives as well as advising on marketing strategy, pricing, and expense management. Ken will share the findings of the THIA Travel Claims Survey conducted this year. You will recall that the objectives for our Claims Survey initiative are to:

Sean McGurran, Counsel, Torys LLPWith over a decade of experience in both private practice and senior in-house counsel roles in the insurance industry, Sean provides strategic and practical counsel on corporate and regulatory matters to a diverse array of prominent clients within the financial services and insurance sectors. Sean has expertise with insurance and warranty product regulation, structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including white-label, MGA and other distribution arrangements, as well as advising and advocating for clients on market conduct issues. Sean will provide a brief outline of THIA's submission to the Insurance Council of Manitoba regarding the Council's recent shift requiring individuals to have a General Insurance license to sell “Comprehensive Travel Insurance”.
