TORONTO — A well-known Canadian travel industry veteran has re-emerged as the new Vice-President, Business Development at Blue Cross Canassurance.

George Platanitis, who brings with him nearly 25 years of experience in sales management, business development and strategic partnership development, is now supervising business development and sales activities for all Blue Cross Canassurance lines in Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces.

Prior to his new role, Platanitis spent nearly three years at Air Canada Vacations in Strategy Development, Marketing and Ecommerce, and also served as Director of Business Development & Travel Partnerships at Air Canada. Before that, he was General Manager, Retail & TravelPartnerships at Aeroplan.

Platanitis will be assisted by Joanne Parent, Regional Vice-President, Quebec Health and Travel Insurance, Sasha Opacic, Regional Vice-President, Ontario Health Insurance, and Sean Collins, Director, Customer Contact Center-Direct Sales and Info-Partners.
