THIA's New Executive

David Hartman, president and CEO of TIC Travel Insurance Coordinators Ltd., and John Thain, director, Actuarial Services, Assurant Solutions, were elected to two-year terms as THIA’s president and vice-president respectively, at the association’s annual general meeting in Markham Ontario, September 21, 2010. Both were elected by acclamation.  They succeed Martha Turnbull and Nathan LaFayette who served as president and vice-president, respectively. Ms Turnbull will remain on the executive as immediate past-president.

 

Rounding out the executive are Warren Brown, secretary, and Lambert Boenders, treasurer. Both are in the second year of their two-year terms.

Mr. Hartman, who has been serving as chairperson of THIA’s regulatory affairs committee, assumed his position as president and CEO of TIC in June 2007. Prior to that he was vice-president of Wealth Management and president of Co-operators Mutual Funds Ltd. for Co-operators Life Insurance Company, a firm in which he has held several management and executive positions since joining the firm in 1990.

 

Mr. Thain, who has been a member of THIA since 2003, is currently director of actuarial services and account management and on-site lead for the Preferred Benefits Alliance and DMC Solutions companies, which were acquired by Assurant Solutions on April 1st.  He has been involved with travel insurance in a variety of roles for over 20 years: from 1990 to 1998 in product management and development with Manulife affinity markets.
