Prime Minister says border will remain closed

The Prime Minister has announced that the Canada-US border will remain closed as long as the US continues to have significant infection rates for the coronavirus COVID-19.

“We have committed to keeping Canadians safe and we keep extending the border closures because the States is not in a place where we would feel comfortable reopening those borders... We will continue to make sure that Canadian safety is top of mind when we move forward. We see the cases in the United States and elsewhere around the world, and we need to continue to keep these border controls in place,” the prime minister told a Winnipeg radio station.

The US-Canada border was closed in March to non-essential travel and that closure remains in effect officially until Octobe 21, 2020. The Prime Minister's statement suggest that this date is likely to be extended again.
